Hare and Hounds Development Project 2012

Work started on 16th January 2012 and is due to complete in early June 2012.

Works include replacing the marquee with a fantastic extension complete with panoramic views down the valley to Sidmouth and the sea, adding in a new toilet block and extending the kitchen.

Week 18 – w/c 14th May.

We are still struggling to catch up on outside due to the rain and it is touch and go whether the patio and lawned areas will be ready in time. Inside is a hive of activity, with customers now in the old part of the pub the other side of the partition, and in the new Hunters Lodge area, carpets and wooden floor being laid, electricians working on the lighting, fixed seating and glazing going in and decorators working around everybody. We are currently on schedule to open the entire inside during the afternoon of Monday 21st May - can't wait!

Week 17 – w/c 11th May.

Pictures of our new carvery units. Not long now until they are put into action!

Week 16 – w/c 8th May.

"Internal pictures only this time due to the torrential rain outside! You can see the link between the main bar and the Hunters Lodge, the new fire place and beams in the Hunters Lodge, the new sweet counter being built and the extended bar. We re-open for business on the 18th May and the Hunters Lodge will be open on the 22nd May….can't wait!"

Week 16 – w/c 6th May.

Tiles are down in front of where the carvery will go. Hunters Lodge is being painted and fitted out. Building is complete, just a few windows remaining.

Week 15 – w/c 23rd April.

Some great photos taken inside the "Hunter's Lodge". Roof now in place and builders are busy finishing off the interior. Note the new island fire place and the magnificent oak beams which should both are both fantastic.

Week 14 – w/c 17th April.

Hunter's Lodge has half a roof, rest to be done by end of the week. The beautiful oak roof beams are looking fantastic and will be a real feature. Out buildings are now virtually complete.

Week 13 – w/c 9th April.

Roof steels and wooden trusses in place, under floor heating down and floor laid at end of week.

Week 12 – w/c 30th March.

Very exciting day as the roof trusses for the restaurant arrived and were lifted into place by a very large crane. Our building is really taking shape now. Just as exciting was the fantastic sunny weather, long may it continue!

Week 11 – w/c 26th March.

Great to see roofs being tiled, inside kitchen and plant rooms are being equipped. Main restaurant is really taking shape and you can see the start of the new open fireplace.

Week 10 – w/c 20th March.

We are now in week 10 of the build programme and so far we remain on schedule. The kitchen, new toilets and plant room now have a roof and the floors are being laid and the boilers installed. The new walk in fridges are in place and are being connected up. The dining area now has walls and the roof goes up next week. The views down the valley are spectacular. We have decided to call the development "The Hunter's Lodge", the former name of the Hare & Hounds….a great link between the old and the new."

Week 9 – w/c 12th March.

They are close to completing the kitchen and boiler room roof. The dry store is disappearing and the area is nearly ready for the fridges. The internal walls for the staff accommodation and toilets are done, and the floor is going down for the kitchen. The dry store has now gone, they are leveling the ground for the terrace and the roof is going on the staff accommodation.

Week 8 – w/c 5th March.

Floor being laid, walls going up and roof trusses being installed.

Week 7 – w/c 27th Feb.

Build project 6 weeks in, 14 to go. So far we are on schedule. Walls going up and windows going in. The floor plan is clearly visible. You can see what wonderful views down the valley we will have when the building is finished.

Week 6 – w/c 20th Feb.

New kitchen and toilet block walls being built. Foundations for main trading area making good progress.

Week 5 – w/c 13th Feb.

Foundations to main extension dug and concrete being poured. Our building is starting to appear out of the ground, very exciting.

Week 4 – w/c 6th Feb.

The foundation for the fireplace/chimney is setting and more foundations are being dug at the front. The walls are rising for the toilets and the last photo shows the concrete base for the fridges.
